About Eye Exams

If you are 19 and younger or 65 and older you are covered for a yearly eye exam by OHIP.

At Custom Lens Xpress we adhere to the highest professional standards of eye exam quality, for the benefit of serving the Annex community. Our comprehensive eye exams are performed by licensed Doctors of Optometry that have decades of experience. Your eyewear prescription will be determined by the Optometrist during your eye exam. Your prescription changes on a yearly basis, so it’s important to check your eyes regularly.

Routine eye exams are relevant for more than determining your eyewear prescription. They are an important part of healthy eye maintenance and are a good indication of your overall health. During your exam, the Custom Lens Xpress doctors will determine your need for eyeglasses or contact lenses and screen your eyes for common eye diseases and eye disorders that could lead to vision loss. Many eye health conditions, such as glaucoma, have no symptoms before becoming something more serious.

Yearly eye examinations ensure that preventative measures and necessary treatments can be prescribed. Keep your eyes healthy. They are the only eyes you have.

The professional judgment of the Optometrist along with the individual patient signs and symptoms may significantly influence the testing done. The Optometrist is trained to diagnose the underlying causes and to ensure a full scope of the eye is done and then determine if the patient should further see another healthcare provider, or eye specialist.

Many eye diseases are asymptomatic and not always present so it is imperative to have periodic and thorough eye examinations as part of your routine primary care. If you have any signs of disease, the Optometrist will refer you to a Doctor/Ophthalmologist for treatment.
